The Eleventh Annual Run for the Horses event was held on Saturday, April 13th, supporting the retired and rescued horses at Ryerss Farm! The Ryerss Run brought the community together for a great cause, celebrating the participants' achievements and the horses' well-being. Whether you were a seasoned runner or wanted to contribute to a worthy cause, the day was designed to accommodate everyone.
The race options included a 10K run, 5K run, and 1-mile walk on a cross-country course, allowing participants to choose the best fit for their capabilities and comfort. Pre-registered participants received a special Dri-Fit t-shirt to symbolize the collective effort. Race day registration started at noon and began promptly at 1 PM. Spectators lined the course, offering encouragement to the runners and walkers. The 5K and 10K runners started together, while the 1-mile walkers began their journey just five minutes later, ensuring everyone could enjoy the experience at their own pace!
As participants made their way through the course, they were greeted by the cheers of spectators lining the sidelines, offering their support. After the race, participants enjoyed a post-race party celebration with water, snacks, pretzels from Philly Pretzel Factory, beer, and lively music played by a DJ. Following the celebration, medals were awarded to the top three finishers of the 10K and 5K runs in various age categories, including 0-20, 21-40, 41-60, and 61-99.
The Run for the Horses event was a fun and fitness-filled day that significantly contributed to the well-being of the horses at Ryerss Farm. The event showcased the power of community and compassion in action.
