STAR was born in 1984 and arrived at Ryerss Farm for his retirement in August 2011. He was a Quarter Horse cross gelding who stood 14.2 hands high. He had lived his entire life with his former owner. They felt certain he would be depressed leaving his home farm and pasture mate of 12 years. However, when he came off the trailer, here at Ryerss, all you could see in his eyes was delight at the many horses around him. He enjoyed being groomed and was a sweet gentleman. He will be missed greatly by all of us at Ryerss Farm.
DEOCH AN DORUS (aka “DD”) was a chestnut Thoroughbred mare. She was born in 1985 and passed away peacefully on June 5, 2019. DD was brought with her friend Speed Minister aka Speedy to Ryerss Farm on April 23, 2007 by Thoroughbred Charities of America. In spite of health problems through the years, DD was a calm and gentle mare. After Speedy passed away, she became deeply bonded to Omen, one of our mini horses. Soon Smokey, a grey Quarter Horse, joined DD and Omen. DD was a sweet mare who will be sorely missed by all who knew her, both two-legged and four.
CHEVON was a Dutch Warmblood mare born in 1984. Her former owner purchased her at two years old and trained her to become an accomplished dressage horse. She reached third level. She retired to Ryerss Farm on June 14, 2011. She was a gentle and patient mare with humans and horses alike. She chose Budrow as her best friend soon after retirement and he will miss her very much. Her human friends will miss her sweet personality even more.
