They come from various backgrounds, but each horse has a unique — and interesting — story to tell.
Your gifts, you can help!
Your help allows us to give our horses the appropriate quality of life they deserve in their retirement years.
Ryerss Farm will host its 27th annual Blessing of the Animals on Sunday, October 1, 2017 from Noon to 3 p.m., and we cordially invite you and your pet to attend. (Please make sure that your pet is on a leash or in a carrier.) The short, non-denominational Blessing Service will be held in the large main barn at 1:00 p.m. and will be followed by an individual blessing for all animals in attendance. In addition to the blessing service, there will also be hayrides after the blessing and lunch will be available at noon. The Ryerss Gift Shop will be open with items for horse lovers of all ages and, as always, you may visit the many retired horses who live on the farm. The blessing of animals can be traced back to the 12th and 13th century when a Catholic monk, St. Francis of Assisi, started the custom. Today the practice has spread world-wide and includes many religious denominations. We look forward to sharing this special event with you and your pet!
The Annual Family Fun Day which took place at the farm on Saturday, June 17th was attended by hundreds of adults and children of all ages. A good time was had by all, and the event was a success in raising money to help care for the 80 retired and rescued horses who live on the farm. Lots of activities and games, hayrides, food, prizes, pony rides, and even a dunk tank, created a festive atmosphere. If you missed Fun Day this year, be sure to plan on joining us next year. It’s a wonderful place to bring your young children and grandchildren!
