Upcoming Events for 2017
SAVE THE DATE!
Ryerss Farm will host its 27th annual Blessing of the Animals on Sunday, October 1, 2017 from Noon to 3 p.m., and we cordially invite you and your pet to attend. (Please make sure that your pet is on a leash or in a carrier.) The short non-denominational Blessing Service will be held in the large main barn at 1 p.m. and will be followed by an individual blessing for all animals in attendance. In addition to the blessing service, there will also be hayrides after the blessing and lunch will be available at noon. The Ryerss Gift Shop will be open with items for horse lovers of all ages and, as always, you may visit the many retired horses who live on the farm. The blessing of animals can be traced back to the 12th and 13th century when a Catholic monk, St. Francis of Assisi, started the custom. Today the practice has spread world-wide and includes many religious denominations. We look forward to sharing this special event with you and your pet!
