RESIDENTS — Past and Present
THE CURRENT RESIDENTS OF RYERSS FARM
At Ryerss Farm, our barn doors are open to all equine breeds. Residents range from the small Pony of the Americas, to the versatile Quarter Horse, to the large draft horse, just to name a few. And, our residents boast a variety of career paths. Some walked the trails, providing a comfortable ride for their trusting companions. Others performed in the ring after countless hours of practice. Several served in the pharmaceutical industry, saving lives by humbly giving their blood to generate snakebite or black widow spider anti-venom. Others served on police forces, going out on patrol, rescuing victims and performing in ceremonies. And some ran the track, striding to win, even if only winning by a nose. Still others haven’t led such glamorous careers. They retired after being rescued from abusive situations or saved from a slaughterhouse. They all have a story to tell. To read about them, click on a link below, then scroll down the page to find the horse you want (they are listed alphabetically).
If you would like more information on sponsoring one of our residents, please click on the How To Help button and look under the “Sponsor a Horse” section.

SOME FACTS ABOUT SENIOR HORSES
As our name specifies, the residents of our farm are primarily retired horses 20 years of age or older, many with chronic health issues. We also have some horses younger than 20 who were rescued from abusive or neglectful situations. If this is the first time you have been around “senior” horses, you may notice some differences from the other horses you may be used to seeing, such as at horse shows or riding stables. This handout provides information about our residents to help make your visit to Ryerss more interesting and enjoyable: RYERSS SENIOR HORSE HANDOUT
We have recently created a Memorial Plaque that will hang in the Ryerss Office hall near our Wall of Fame photos. This plaque will be in honor of our past Ryerss residents – the horses who have lived here and given us all so much joy! It will be a way for all to remember them, and for a modest minimum donation of $250.00, we invite you to have a brass plate on the plaque engraved with your beloved Ryerss horse’s name and a message, as well as your own name.
This project is a way for us to help with the care of current Ryerss horses and memorialize the past horses so that they will not be forgotten. If you would like to participate in this memorial, please contact the Ryerss office at (610) 469-0533, or download our Memorial Plaque Form.
